For the 2025 edition of Rotterdam Photo, we’re proud to present an exciting 10-day program in and around Museumpark, filled with exhibitions, artist talks, and public events. Under the theme Shared/Connected, this year’s festival explores the power of photography to reflect and reshape our sense of community in a fragmented world. Check out some of the highlights below.
Exhibitions & Photography Projects
More than 40 international photographers – both emerging and established – present powerful visual stories through container exhibitions and open- air installations. These accessible platform give voice to independent creators exploring a broad spectrum of topics – from climate and cultural heritage to personal identity and digital self.

Dutch Talent Project Grants
Rotterdam Photo proudly features the recipients of the Amarte Dutch Talent Project Grants. These selected photographers have developed new work that embodies the festival’s core theme of connection offering bold, fresh perspectives on today’s social and ecological challenges.

Invited Photographers
Complementing the open call participants is a curated lineup of invited artists: Mark Engelen, Yixi Tian, Igor Schiller, and Kriss Munsya. Each contributed a powerful lens on the Shared/Connected theme, deepening the festival’s narrative and sparkling conversation.

Special Group Exhibition – Project Ex Machina
For the 2025 edition of Rotterdam Photo, sixtynine.digital was invited to develop a tool that explores the possibilities of machine learning and AI, and to spark a conversation about the future role of photo curation as a professional practice in this evolving landscape.
Around 20 photographs were selected through this AI-driven process, sparking a vital conversation about the intersection of creativity, technology, and authorship. All selected works will be featured in the special group exhibition Ex Machinaduring Rotterdam Photo 2025.

Photo Talks 2025
In partnership with Arminius, Rotterdam Photo organised a dynamic series of Photo Talks and public discussions, including two headline Photo Talks
Photo Talk 1: AI in Curation and Image Making – May 18, 16:00
Photo Talk 2: Can Photography Rebuild Connection in a Divided World? – May 22, 20:00
With renowned speakers and moderators, these sessions invite the public into a critical conversation about the future of photography and its potential to foster a connection.

Artist Talks 2025
During the Rotterdam Photo 2025, we are preparing an in-depth Artist Talks Program, covering the project presentations of participating project open call photographers. This engaging program will take place at the festival’s location during 4 days – May 17, May 18, May 24. and May 25. Various photographers will present their works and projects, delving visitors deeper into photography and giving visitors captivating details about their projects/creations/story/technical aspects.
